About Automyze and the AA

Motoriety UK Limited (“Motoriety”) and the Automobile Association Developments Limited (“AA”) have entered into an agreement whereby Motoriety are licensed to use AA branding to provide services to motorists via the automyze.theAA.com (the “Website”).

All data collected via the Website is controlled by Motoriety. When you sign up for an account for the Website, your data will be shared with and transferred to the AA and AA Group to identify whether you are an existing AA customer. If you are an existing AA customer, certain information the AA holds about you, your vehicle and the products and services you receive from the AA, will be automatically uploaded to your account to get you started. When your data is transferred to the AA, the AA will also become a controller of your data in common with Motoriety. For details of how the AA will use your data please refer to the AA’s privacy policy.

In this privacy policy, reference to “we”, “us” and “our” refers to Motoriety and “you” or “your” refers to any person accessing the Website.

In order to facilitate a proactive service it is necessary for us to collect your data and pass this to trusted third parties, such as garages. This privacy policy explains how we will manage your data in more detail.

The information we collect about you

When you access and browse this website (including when you register for our service and submit personal information to us) we may collect the personal information about you, including:

  • your vehicle details;
  • your postal address, phone, fax and e-mail details;
  • IP address;
  • other data relating to you held by the AA; and
  • any other information that may be applicable to your vehicle and any products or services applicable to your vehicle including but not limited to servicing, repairs, breakdown cover and insurance.

If you provide a work email address we will not be responsible for third parties having access to any communications we send to you where those third parties are authorised to access your email account.

How we will use the information about you

We gather this information to:

  • process your registration;
  • provide you with relevant offers from third parties relating to your vehicle(s);

If you consent when registering with the Website, we and other carefully selected third parties, such as garages listed on the Website, the AA and other AA services (AA Tyres, AA Loans, AA Cars, AA Insurance and other AA branded products and services) may use your information to keep you informed by post, phone, mobile phone, email and SMS about current and new products and services which may be of interest to you.

We may also use the information you supply to perform market research or to remind you when vehicle-related maintenance or insurance renewals are due.

We may use aggregate information and statistics for the purposes of monitoring Website usage in order to help us to develop our Website and our services. We may also provide such aggregate information to third parties. These statistics will not include information that can be used to identify you.

We will use your data for our own research, which may include but is not limited to for the purpose of detecting and investigating potential fraud. We may also provide your information to our customer service agencies for research and analysis purposes so that we can monitor and improve the services we provide. We or our agents and subcontractors may contact you by post, email or telephone to ask you for your feedback and comments on our services.

Except as set out in this Privacy Policy, we will not disclose any of your information to other parties without your permission unless we are legally required to do so.

We will amend details as required, however we are obliged and permitted by law and regulation to retain certain types of data for a minimum period of time which is six years although may be longer if the statute or regulation requires.

If you prefer to opt out of any of our marketing activities you may do this at any time by contacting us. You will need to contact the AA separately to in relation to AA marketing activities. You can contact us by emailing unsubscribe@motoriety.co.uk. The marketing of relevant goods and services is an integral and core activity of the Motoriety service and we believe that this will be beneficial to you. If you unsubscribe from marketing activity limited Website functionality will remain available to you, including reminders of key legal, administrative and maintenance requirements, however tailored offers in relation to your vehicle ownership may not.
